How to be Prepared
- The following individuals/positions will serve as part of
the Disaster Action Committee and will identify, and keep updated
a list of faculty, students and other campus leaders who can
serve as assistants during a disaster:
- Vice President for Student Affairs
- Chief of Police
- Provost
- Vice President for Business Affairs and Treasurer
- Director of University Relations
- President Ex Officio Member
- The Chief of Police will discuss and maintain close working relationships with
established campus disaster teams and emergency officials in order to best respond during a disaster
(natural or terrorist disaster, etc.)
- The Chief of Police will have, and keep updated detailed, written disaster action plans
that include the following information:
- The Command Center which will be located in the theater of the Student Center and the
alternate site, which will be the theater
in the Armstrong Building.
- The Chief of Police will be in charge of the Command Center.
- The Provost will be responsible for faculty
- The Vice President for Student Affairs will be responsible
for students.
- The Vice President for Business Affairs and Treasurer will be responsible for the
Educational Support Staff.
- The Chief of Police will conduct mock drills at the beginning of each academic semester.

- The Disaster Action Committee will be responsible for disseminating
the details of the disaster plans to the campus community.
- The Director of University Relations will plan how the public
information office will operate, address rumor control, and
inform the public. The Director of University Relations will
utilize the room across from the Food Court in the Student
Center for news conferences and media use during an emergency.
